Draenei.

The base concept of the Draenei is entirely taken from World of Warcraft. However, they have been modified somewhat to fit into Trinity.

Draenei

"It is through faith in the Light that we shall succeed."

It is said that there are worlds other than these, and the draenei would certainly seem to be proof of this argument. It is said that they appeared in the skies over Ganymede ages ago, though the precise details of their arrival are lost, even to them. It is known that a ship of alien design and purpose appeared in the planet's orbit and crashed into the oceans of phazon, with only a few thousand - perhaps even fewer - surviving the crash.

Those that did spoke of an unspeakable, unending evil, lurking... somewhere. Though they are steadfast in the certainty that this unknown foe exists, they are unable to explain where it is, or how they came to be in the Philomenic system. Some believe that the evil they speak of is the Tyranid threat, though - upon inspection - they are insistent that it is not. The evil they speak of seems reminiscent to demons and devils, but they insist that the threat is of the real world, not Divine planes, and that it will one day make its way to the worlds of Trinity.

They seem to have adapted well enough to the atmosphere of Ganymede, much as the significantly newer Adnezian residents have. Unfortunately for them, the vast majority of their cultural heritage was consumed by the phazon, and so have had to work closely with the Ganymedean natives. While most have found their incredible faith somewhat off-putting, they have served as a unifying force there, forging alliances between the various races and ensuring peace in the face of an eternally-hostile environment.

Their faith is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the draenei. Unlike other races, who tend to recognize specific Saints and universally recognize the Lucavi, the draenei seem to worship the Divine itself directly: they refer to it as the Light. It is unknown how or why this practice began, but this particular brand of faith seems to have been incorporated into their very being: it is believed that, wherever they came from, they have more in common with angels and the like than most mortal races.

Draenei Racial Traits (d20)

If the game you are playing does not use the Faith score, substitute Wisdom for Faith.

  • +2 Cha, +4 Fai. Draenei are outgoing and social, and deeply religious.
  • Medium.
  • Outsider: Draenei are outsiders, not humanoids. As such, they are not affected by spells or effects that normally only affect humanoids.
  • Base move speed of 30 feet.
  • Draenei possess darkvision, with a base distance of 60 feet.
  • Resistances (Ex): Draenei have NI and VI equal to their level. These resistances overlap (do not stack) with resistances gained due to class.
  • Nameless Vulnerability: If a draenei is affected by an effect that would cause the nameless or innocent conditions, she takes 1d6/caster level points of damage in addition to the effect's normal effects; if the effect allows a save, the draenei suffers only half damage on a successful save. A draenei afflicted with the nameless condition drifts into a nightmare-filled coma until the condition is lifted.
  • Shadow Resistance (Ex): A draenei has shadow resist 10.
  • Inspiring Presence (Di): Friendly creatures within 30 feet of a draenei that have a Faith score of at least 12 gain a +1 insight bonus to their AC. This ability does not affect the draenei.
  • Heroic Presence (Di): Friendly creatures within 30 feet of a draenei that have a Faith score of at least 12 gain a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls. This ability does not affect the draenei.
  • Gift of the Light (Pr): The draenei's inborn faith grants them the ability to reach out to the Divine in times of need, and have their prayers granted. The draenei knows and can use phrase of regeneration, but cannot reverse it. If the draenei does not have the ability to make Truespeech checks, she can do so for this prayer, with a bonus equal to her Wisdom modifier + one-half her character level. If she gains the ability to use prayers from a class or other source, she instead uses the bonus to Truespeech checks from that class.
  • Powerful Build (Ex): The physical stature of draenei lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a draenei is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the draenei is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A draenei is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A draenei can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category.
  • Channel Divine (Di): The draenei has one daily use of the channel divine ability, and gains an additional use every four character levels (so 2/day at 4th, 3/day at 8th, and so on). This ability stacks with uses gained from other classes. A draenei can use their channel divine use to take 10 on the Truespeech check for their Gift of the Light ability.
  • Automatic Languages: One Common language, Ganymede Trade, and Draenic. Bonus Languages: Any.
  • Favored Class: Choose one - antipaladin, defender, paladin, priest.
  • LA: +1.
