Gift Mechanics
What follows are specific mechanics that are unique to gifts.
Stress: Basic
- This denotes a basic gift. Such gifts do not cause stress to accrue towards its suite. However, such gifts can only be used within terrain relevant to that suite.
Rider
- Riders are specific effects that certain gifts can cause to occur. A rider effect occurs if and only if the effect allowed a saving throw, and the target's natural roll on the saving throw was less than or equal to the geomancer's key ability score modifier for geomancy - thus, for shamans, only if the natural result is less than or equal to the shaman's Wisdom modifier.
- Riders are denoted in each gift description as a special entry at the end of the gift description, usually accompanied by a short explanation of rider mechanics.
