At the beginning of each of your turns, you can choose to make a new ''gamble''. If you do, select a new status effect and one of its corresponding ranges, and make a ''gamble''. If your result is within the range, that status effect is applied as appropriate (to you and allies within range if a boon, to all enemies within range if an ailment), and lasts until the end of your next turn.

Gamble

As a gambler, it is in your nature to gamble; but now, you can do so with far more than just dice.

As a standard action, you can discard at least one whim to play one of the games you know; the specific number of whims is dependent upon the game. The effect of a given game lasts for a certain amount of time, defined by which game you are playing; in addition, each game has a bust condition, which ends the game and gives you a penalty of some sort until you take a short rest.

You can only play one game at a time, but can play any number of that game at the same time (for instance, you could be playing five copies of blackjack, but not one copy of blackjack and one copy of roulette).

You gain knowledge of one game, chosen from the gambler game list.

▶ Blackjack

When you play this game, discard one whim, select a trait from the list below, and roll 1d6, consulting the table on the right; this is your gamble value. You and all allies within Medium range (100 feet) gain the corresponding bonus as a feat bonus to the chosen trait.

While this ability is active, at the beginning of each of your turns, you can choose to hit. If you do, roll 1d6 again and add it to the original result, consulting the table on the right; the bonus changes appropriately. If the result of your gamble is greater than 11, you bust: the effect ends, and you suffer a -2 feat penalty to the chosen trait until you take a short rest.

If you choose not to hit, that gamble value is instead reduced by 1. If a gamble is reduced to 0, it ends.

The available traits that you can grant a bonus to via gamble are as follows:

  • physical attack rolls
  • force attack rolls
  • armor check rolls
  • Fortitude defense
  • Reflex defense
  • Will defense
  • Determination defense
