A dromite

Dromites are part of the psionics portion of the SRD. They have been modified to suit Trinity.

Dromites

"Individuality is as important as community."

Whether or not Ganymede may have once been more hospitable than it is now is something the modern world may never know, but what is known is that its present state does not allow for much ecological diversity: the most abundant (if such a term can be used for Ganymede wildlife) fauna are insectoid in nature. While the tau are more humanoid in appearance, their presence and level of technology would imply that they, like the myriad other races present on the planet, were not there originally. The dromites, on the other hand, share a clear insectoid ancestry, similar to the zzithrani.

It is theorized that the zzithrani and the dromites share a common ancestor - and, much as with the zzithrani, it is theorized that the dromites may share the same Tyranid ancestry from eons long ago. However, while the zzithrani have developed into mobile collectives, the dromites instead became significantly more complex, individual entities. The precise reasoning for this divergence is unknown, but the current theory holds that this split happened far into the distant past, such that - aside from their insectoid appearances - the two races have next to nothing in common.

Personality: Soon.

Dromite Racial Traits (d20)

  • +2 Cha, -2 Str. Dromites are social creatures, and seem keen to learn the social structures and etiquette of other races. However, their stature limits their physical strength.
  • Small. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
  • Monstrous Humanoid. Dromites are humanoid in shape, but have a significantly different anatomy. As such, they are not affected by spells or effects that normally only affect humanoids.
  • A dromite’s base land speed is 20 feet.
  • Dromites possess darkvision, with a base distance of 60 feet.
  • Scent: Dromites have the Scent ability.
  • Blind-Fight: Dromites gain the Blind-Fight feat as a bonus feat.
  • Weapon Familiarity: Dromites treat all weapons of Ganymede origin as one category simpler.
  • Chitin: Dromites have a strong exoskeleton, granting them a +2 natural armor bonus to AC. This chitin also grants them a +4 bonus on saves against radiation.
  • Compound Eyes: This feature of its anatomy gives a dromite a +2 racial bonus on Spot checks.
  • Radiation Sense: Dromites came into their own on Ganymede, and one of the traits they developed to thrive was the ability to sense radiation. Radioactivity appears brightly-lit to dromite eyes, allowing them to pinpoint objects emitting radiation as well as detect areas or objects with trace radiation.
  • Hivemind Legacy (Ps): Dromites were once a hivemind race, and they retain trace amounts of this ability. The dromite, and any creatures within 30 feet the dromite selects, gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Will saves against mind-affecting effects. Bonuses from multiple dromites stack.
  • Automatic Languages: One Common language, Ganymede Trade, (something). Bonus Languages: Any.
  • Favored Class: Choose one - psionicist, rogue.
