The city of Mechanicus is located in the extreme north of the Coldlands Territory, Adnez, and is that nation's capital.

Mechanicus

"If technology is what you require, look no further than the machine city of Mechanicus."

While the Ronkans may have dreamed of cities of steam and steel, it would not be until three hundred years after the fall of the Ronkan Empire that that dream would be realized, in the snowy wastelands of the Coldlands Territory. After the Diaclo Revolution, Diaclo and his followers went as far north into their granted lands as they could; upon reaching the sea, they settled and began work on building the city that would one day become the technological mecca of Adnez.

The city originally began with something resembling urban planning, but with the independent spirit that ran through the Coldlands population, any sort of planning had become largely useless shortly after the city was founded. While parts of the city became specialized, catering to the needs of specific races or becoming home to specific types of business, others were a blended mix of cultures and beliefs regarding space and orientation. Combined with improvements in construction technology, which led to the ability to build buildings dozens of stories tall, Mechanicus attained a cityscape unlike any seen before.

After the War of the Coldlands, in which the supernatural winter that pervaded the Coldlands Territory was ended, the city's wall was upgraded with a number of defensive mechanisms, and the city itself enjoyed a population boom from the refuges of the fallen city of Urilaulri. Unwilling to spread outside of the protection of the city's walls, the inhabitants instead continued to build up, resulting in even more massive structures.

With the advent of spaceflight, Mechanicus was the first city on Adnez with the facilities required to launch technology-based craft into orbit, and would retain that status for a number of decades.
