Chocobo

Chocobos are large, flightless birds that are native to Sarteri, the southernmost continent of Trinity. First domesticated by halflings, they have become the most common mount of choice in their native lands.

Compared to other mounts, chocobos are not as sturdy, given that they only have two legs; this also limits their carrying capacity. Their ability in combat is on-par with horses: while horses can stomp with their hooves, chocobos can use their beaks offensively. However, chocobos are slightly faster than horses, and having claws rather than hooves allows them to navigate some places that horses would be unable to reach.

Biology

Chocobos are similar to ostriches in anatomy, diet, and behavior.

There are several varieties of chocobo, some of which have a wide variety of color; most chocobos tend towards a light sandy-brown coloration, though there are breeds that produce dark-green or black offspring.

Combat

A chocobo not trained for war does not normally attack with its claws. Its claw attack is treated as a secondary attack and adds only half the chocobo’s Strength bonus to damage.
