Jikuumental

A jikuumental.

Circular patterns of blue and tan energy seem to phase in and out of existence around a central, circular core of strange colors forming fractal patterns. The whole of the entity seems to shift oddly, as though you were observing it at constantly shifting angles, and parts of the energy pattern surrounding it seem to fold in on themselves and bloom into yet more fractal patterns.

A jikuumental is a mobile, volatile expression of time itself; a singularity of temporal and spatial energy given physical form. Unlike other creatures that are merely attuned to time, a jikuumental is composed entirely of temporal energy; they have no mortal form, and are true elementals.

Jikuumentals are normally neutral towards most creatures they encounter. However, a jikuumental that encounters a creature aligned with the forces of the Blue or Chaos attacks on sight and without remorse. It has been reported that jikuumentals sometimes attack creatures lacking such alignments, but who - in other times or places - could have attained such powers.

Jikuumentals can sometimes be reasoned with, though communication is difficult; it is not even certain if communication is at all successful, as they do not speak, though they seem to have an understanding of a variety of languages. Jikuumentals are known to stay dormant for long periods of time, and awaken in periods of temporal disturbance.

Jikuumentals come in the same relative sizes as other elementals: small, medium, large, huge, greater, and elder. The larger and older a given jikuumental, the stronger its connection to time, and thus its size increases and its abilities become more dangerous.

Jikuumentals are one of the types of force elemental.

Combat

Jikuumentals that engage in combat wield their considerable temporal power to the best effect. Each jikuumental is unique, in terms of what jikuu it is capable of, and it is noted that their abilities run the gamut of temporal power, from alacrity to chrono break. It is not known if there is any way to tell just how powerful a given jikuumental will be, though it can be reasonably assumed that larger jikuumentals will be more powerful and able to produce more powerful temporal effects.

Jikuumentals who become forced into melee do not attempt to flee, but continue invoking temporal energy until either they or their target is dead. Jikuumentals seem to utterly lack a survival instinct, and while they may make intelligent tactical decisions, their tactics revolve around killing their original targets rather than taking out threats to their survival.

Lore

A character knows the following information with a successful Knowledge (Quantum Mechanics) or Knowledge (The Forces) check.

Knowledge (Quantum Mechanics)

• DC 15: Jikuumentals are bizarre elementals that are composed of raw temporal energy. Each jikuumental is relatively unique, and their abilities vary wildly.
• DC 16: Jikuumentals do not communicate, but seem to understand most languages.
• DC 19: Jikuumentals seem able to sense chaos or the blue, especially those who use these forces. They become immediately hostile when chaos or the blue is in their presence.
• DC 20: It is understood that jikuumentals, as composed of the raw building blocks of space-time itself, are able to absorb magnetic energy that they successfully resist.
• DC 22: Certain temporal effects, such as slow, have no effect on a jikuumental.
• DC 24: Certain temporal effects, such as undo jikuu, that dispel or otherwise negate temporal effects are incredibly effective against jikuumentals.
• DC 25: Jikuumentals are able to produce jikuu-like abilities at will, and it would seem that the energy upon which they draw has no limit.

• DC 18: Jikuumentals are bizarre elementals that are composed of raw temporal energy. Each jikuumental is relatively unique, and their abilities vary wildly.

Summoning a Jikuumental

Some jikuu are capable of bringing forth a jikuumental.

Note that only temporal jikuu are capable of producing a jikuumental. Other forces with effects that are capable of summoning or otherwise resulting in the appearance of an elemental cannot produce a jikuumental.
