These creatures, and this concept, is my own design.

Elemental, Force

The conflicts between the forces of each trinity cause the very fabric of the universe to change. A mage who lives in the same city over the course of her life very slowly, but very surely, alters the landscape around her, increasing its susceptibility to the arcane and weakening the power of psionics and technology in the area.

In some places, these force-based alterations to the world become incredibly strong. It is in these places that the races that are not just force-aligned, but themselves partially composed of the forces, come into being: espers and artilects, among others.

But these are not the only beings that are essentially their force given physical form. In places of particularly dense saturation of energy of a given force, creatures called "force elementals" seem to spontaneously come into existence. A force elemental is not just partially composed of their given force; the elemental is, for all intents and purposes, a physical manifestation of its force itself. An arcanomental is not just made of magic; it is a living expression of magic itself.

These creatures are almost universally acknowledged as extremely dangerous: their motives are unknown, their reasons for existing are unknown, and they all vary incredibly, even amongst those of a certain force; one can never be certain what a force elemental is capable of until it takes action.

There are nine varieties of force elemental, one corresponding to each force. There is some speculation, amongst those who are aware of the Wandering force, of the possible existence of a force elemental of the Wandering; however, there is no evidence to support (or deny) the possibility of such a creature.

Force Elementals

Lore

Due to their varied nature, most lore checks regarding force elementals are performed in regards to a specific type of force elemental. However, a character can attempt a general lore check regarding force elementals as a whole.

A character knows the following information with a successful Knowledge (The Forces) check.

  • DC 18: Force elementals generally form only in places of intense saturation of force-related energies, which take long periods of time or large numbers of people to form, or are "summoned" using an ability of the related force.
  • DC 21: Force elementals are incredibly hostile towards force-users or creatures aligned with their opposed forces, and will stop at nothing to destroy them once detected.
  • DC 23: The abilities of a given force elemental are generally unpredictable; while it is safe to say that an arcanomental will use magic, for instance, the specifics of what an elemental is capable of are undeterminable.
  • DC 25: Force elementals tend to be highly resistant to their opposed forces, and sometimes are also immune or even absorb a particular energy type that their force favors.
