Moogles are the intellectual property of Square Enix. The base template for Trinity moogles are moogles as presented, specifically, in the Ivalice Alliance series (specifically FF XII). Any Trinity-specific information is, of course, of my own devising.

Ages ago, on the island-continent of Distarin, a race of winged rabbits began the long road to sentience. Skittish, strongly clan-oriented, and ever-wary of predators, they gradually became attuned to the spirits of the earth, coming to an almost intuitive understanding of geomancy long before they even developed language. While other races tended to become more sophisticated as they grew, moogles did not - they kept to their natural rhythm for far longer than most, seeing little need to become more than they were.
However, the world is a small place, and eventually, other races made contact with the small species. Clavats and the Xianese, with whom the moogles shared Distarin, encountered the moogles - whom they named the mogri - and found them to be unusual but pleasant, and certainly not a threat of any kind. However, such encounters piqued the innate curiosity of the moogles, and so they ventured out into the wider world of Distarin, encountering such concepts as clothing and tools.
Tools, in particular, fascinated moogles. In short order, a rift appeared in moogle culture: those who sought to remain true to nature, and those who sought to learn more about tools and expand on the little mechanical knowledge their neighbors possessed. This crisis, however, was averted almost as quickly as it was encountered, as moogles began seeing machines as an extension of the natural world: not necessarily better, but put to different use.
Since then, moogles have maintained this bridge over what would seem a great divide, and continued to expand their mechanical knowledge while retaining their strong Natural heritage. They would go on to invent airships independently of the gnomes, and develop other fascinating technologies in tandem with other like-minded races.
Personality: Eternally optimistic and insatiably curious, moogles are hard to put down and always eager to learn. However, they retain a good deal of their skittishness and are easily distracted, sometimes finding it difficult to focus on the task at hand. Having coexisted with clavats for so long, however, has also helped imbue a strong work ethic into moogle culture, and so most are eager to lend a helping hand, perhaps even too eager in some situations. Moogles are enthusiastic in putting new knowledge to immediate and effective use, and can sometimes make bizarre - if accurate - leaps of logic and deduction.
Physical Description: Rare is the moogle that breaks three feet tall, and on average weigh between twenty-five and thirty-five pounds. Moogle fur coloration varies wildly, with some exhibiting patterns such as stripes or spots, while others are simply solid-colored, though most moogles have a relatively natural fur tone, such as brown, white, or black. Moogles have cat-like facial features, though slightly less pronounced.
Moogles also possess bat-like wings, with which they are able to fly. Their wing coloration often complements their fur coloration, though bizarre exceptions - such as a white moogle with red wings - are known to exist.
Of particular note is the moogle's pom-pom, a two- to four-inch diameter sphere covered in fur connected to the top of their head by a strong antennae-like protrusion, rarely more than a foot long. Pom-poms vary wildly in color, and their coloration sometimes has no correlation to their fur or wing coloration; pom-poms also sometimes appear in more unusual colors, such as green, blue, or purple. It is understood that a moogle's pom-pom possesses their anatomy for their natural telepathy; a moogle whose pom-pom is removed is no longer capable of natural moogle telepathy.
Unlike most races, moogles possess only three fingers on each hand, rather than four. This does impact their ability to manipulate objects in any meaningful way.
Relations: Moogles get along splendidly with clavats, with whom they share a homeland. Most other races tend to view them in a positive light, though a moogle's constant optimism can grate on even the most upbeat of human's nerves. Larger races tend to find their almost frenetic level of energy annoying, while quieter races find that most moogle's insistence on chattering greatly frustrating. However, moogles serving as mechanics are often given due respect for their spectacular skill.
Moogles themselves get along amiably with almost every other race, save gremlins. Moogles and gremlins fight for the same niche in society, and moogles often find gremlins' demeanor, approach, and general lifestyle to be repugnant. The animosity between moogles and gremlins is generally friendly and competitive in nature, but it is well-known that it is incredibly easy for such quarrels to escalate to scenarios with dire repercussions. As such, it is incredibly rare for moogles and gremlins to be found working together on airships or even in repair shops.
Ethos: Moogles are strongly Blue in their outlook, oftentimes also possessing strong White and Green ethoi. Moogles that espouse Red virtues are not uncommon, and other races often have difficulty in understanding how moogles can so easily deal with the Blue/Red disparities in their beliefs that often crop up. Rare is the moogle that follows Black virtues. Adventuring moogles rarely deviate much from their cultural norm, though they may be slightly weaker in the White or Green virtues than others of their kind: their devotion to family and clan is overcome by their desire to go out into the world and learn.
Moogle Lands: Moogles have a strong presence on Distarin, their homeland; they are also significant moogle populations on Sarteri, Ashkar, and Chaliraz. Moogles make up a sizeable portion of the Adnezian populations on Ganymede, and a small number of Adnezians on Arcturas. However, moogles can potentially be found almost anywhere that technology is present.
Strong moogle presence in an area usually leads to communal sleeping areas, items placed in places accessible only by flight, orientation of paintings and similar decorations made more suitable for three-dimensional considerations, and an overabundance of "interesting" items. While moogles tend to gather significant amounts of clutter, they are not necessarily dirty.
Religion: Most moogles are naturalists, preferring to work with natural rhythms and understanding that things come and go. However, they often see machinery as a direct extension of nature, and see no problem with the concept of machines and nature existing side-by-side. Moogles who do "find religion" oftentimes follow a more technologically-minded Saint, such as Tracy Vannieu or Fortang Diaclo; Lucavi are too self-serving for most moogles' tastes.

Language: Moogles have no language of their own - the only remnants of it are the few parts used in Tipan and their own names. Most moogles are also fluent in at least one Trade language, at least one Common language, and those who work on airships try to learn Assembly.
Names: Moogles are well-known for their unusual names, which almost always result in an individual moogle's nickname becoming "mog." Moogle names are the only surviving aspect of their original tongue, which was forgotten when the clavats managed to work out a tongue that was acceptable to both races. As such, moogles tend to be rather proud of their names, despite their absurdity.

Adventurers: Moogles adventure for a variety of reasons. Those who would work on airships tend to leave their communities, as moogle communities present few opportunities for working on airships. Others - primarily from Distarin - find the work ethic of their clavat neighbors too stifling; they seek a life of excitement, not the dreary day-to-day existence the clavats find acceptable. Moogles who are fresh in their adventuring career tend to be lacking in caution and overly excitable, but a seasoned moogle is just as dependable and knowledgeable as a normal adventurer.
The following is a rough overview of some of the highlights of moogle culture.
- Machines are Nature: Moogles view machines as an extension of nature; while those with an understanding of the Forces are aware of the fact that Technology and Nature are separate Forces, they still view them as intimately connected.

- Moogle Machinist: Some moogles seek to combine technological study with their natural affinity. Those who do find they can affect machines with natural power.
Moogle Racial Traits (d20)
- -2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence. Moogles are light and fast, and their thought processes - while sometimes bizarre - allow them to make rapid deductions and often-correct leaps of logic, but they have a small frame that makes them weaker and less able to handle physical strain.
- Small. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
- A moogle’s base land speed is 20 feet.
- Flight: A moogle has a fly speed of 40 feet, with Average maneuverability. A moogle can only fly while carrying up to a light load.
- Moogles have darkvision, with a base distance of 60 feet.
- +2 racial bonus on Repair checks: Moogles are inherently good with machines.
- +2 racial bonus on Listen checks: Moogles have rather large ears, which allow for exceptional hearing.
- Cold Resistance (Ex): Moogles have barrier (cold) and resist cold 5. These statuses cannot be removed by any means other than those that explicitly state they can remove them. (A creature with both barrier and resist to an element applies the barrier effect before the resist.) Moogles have thick fur, which enables them to survive in chill environments that others would find hostile.
- Telepathy (Ex): Moogles are mildly telepathic, and can communicate telepathically with others within 10 feet. A creature who would be communicated with telepathically is aware of the attempt, and can refuse to communicate in that manner. This is a mind-affecting, language-dependent effect. A moogle that has lost his pom-pom loses this ability permanently.
