First Epoch - Starshards
During the Starshards Era of the First Epoch, a great many meteors struck the surface of Adnez. One particular meteor struck a narrow mountain range at an unusual angle, creating a caldera nestled in the mountains that was shaped like a teardrop.
Interestingly enough, the point of the teardrop intersected with a river that ran perpendicularly through the mountain range, creating an ankh-like shape.
This unusual natural feature of the world went unnoticed for many, many millenia.
Third Epoch - Penumbra
It was not until the beginning of the Third Epoch, after the Fracture of the Second Epoch, that the region saw inhabitation. A small tribe of Yuan-sera awoke from their hibernation that had begun during the First Epoch, and began exploring the caldera portion of the region.
