People: Lavos, the Time Devourer
- "..."
Lavos is a unique entity of unknown origin. What is known of the creature is its ravenous hunger, and that it subsists solely on temporal energy. Lavos has been known to consume entire alternate timelines, though precisely how it manages to do so or what it does with the temporal energy it consumes remains a mystery.
History
Much of Lavos' history is unknown.
Lavos' first recorded appearance is in 682 CR, in Neo-Mechanicus, when it was summoned there through unknown means by an anarchist sect. However, alternative theories hold that Lavos' appearance coincides in time error with the beginnings of Tetra's modifications to the timeline and the opening of temporal rifts - in these theories, it is often posited that Lavos is, in fact, a version of Dominic from an End of Time that somehow went awry.
Regardless of its origins, due to its strong allegiance to the Force of Time, Lavos' history is largely inscrutable to the Blue, and thus the truth will likely never be known.
Qualities
Lavos is known to be intelligent to at least some degree, as it agreed to assist Tetra in exchange for allowing the entity to consume some of his personal timeline. Whether or not the creature can speak, or if it communicates telepathically, is unknown.
Lavos has a wide array of abilities, as befitting an entity with such strong allegiance to Time, and would presumably be more than a capable match for even an incredibly powerful epochent such as Dominic.
It is known that, unlike any other entity in existence, Lavos' existence is intrinsically tied to the concept of time error - in essence, it travels temporally perpendicular to the normal progression of time, such that the passage of time anywhen passes for this entity as a seamless whole. In effect, this means that if the creature is destroyed, it is destroyed in all times, but it also means that it can can exist in multiple times simultaneously. It is also immune to paradox by virtue of the fact that paradox can only occur in normal time and not time error.
