People: Tarian, the Wanderer
- "We can resolve this conflict, if we come together."
Tarian is a Wanderer, who first appeared on Trinity in CR 114. While present in Trinity, he assembled a small group of adventurers of the nine Forces and sought out and destroyed Kotrit Wayveri in his human form. His actions included the unsealing of one of the Omega's towers, and its subsequent resealing through the use of unknown Wanderer abilities.
Tarian disappeared sometime prior to CR 120, after the end of the War of the Illusionist, and has not been seen or heard of since, including from Wanderers.
History
Cross-referencing information taken from Tarian's own statements, and knowledge brought back by Admiral X, it is believed that Tarian originated on a plane known as Termina. Based upon his own tales of his history, it is believed that Tarian and the Sleeping One were somehow related on his home plane, and that, after returning the Sleeping One to a dormant state, Tarian began his Wandering.
Admiral X's reports on the plane of Termina would seem to indicate that Tarian ascended roughly four hundred years prior to the founding of the Ronkan Empire, and thus - in CR 465 - would be roughly one-thousand years old at present. At the time of the War of the Illusionist, he would have been roughly six-hundred.
Tarian appears to have a vaguely elven appearance, but does not share many of the traits one typically associates with Trinity elves, aside from vague physiological similarities.
Almost the entirety of Tarian's time on Trinity is well-documented in Kalrios Dilark's journals, and thus - while information regarding Tarian directly is not accessible in the Blue - "second-hand" information regarding him and his abilities are available to memeticists.
Tarian did not speak at any length of other planes beyond Trinity, nor did he give any indication as to any particular destination or goal in mind. Knowledge regarding other planes beyond Trinity was not gained until Admiral X's Wandering and subsequent return to Trinity.
Tarian was the first individual to break the seal on one of the Omega's towers. While the Tower of Illusion had been opened before, that had been an action performed by the Omega to allow Kotrit Wayveri to enter; prior to Tarian, no one that the Omega wanted excluded from the tower had been able to gain entry. Tarian's understanding of the symbology surrounding the tower allowed him and his companions to break the seal. After Kotrit Wayveri was slain, Tarian then sealed the tower in a similar manner, though he did not allow anyone to witness this event and did not explain, at any length, the process performed. It is unknown how Tarian was able to do so, but it is generally believed to have been a Wandering power of some sort.
Qualities
Tarian's Blade, his Wandering symbol, is a sword of clearly non-Trinity design and manufact, and Tarian's fighting style indicated that training in the weapon is unlike any weapon known to Trinity. At best it can be said that it is most definitely a sword of some sort.
Inscribed on his symbol is the symbol of the Trinity of Trinities, though Tarian was noted as saying that he was not originally aware of the greater significance of the symbol. Unlike most Wanderers, Tarian seemed to be only vaguely aware of the relationships between the Forces, and mentioned on multiple occasions that his understanding of Force effects was more intuition, presumably gleaned from his Wandering status, than from any knowledge he had attained on his journeys.
Tarian is known to be a skilled and well-rounded martial combatant, and also quite capable with Force-aligned items. Those who adventured with him observed that he had a good deal of small, useful items on his person, and while most were not on par with his weapon - or even Force-aligned - they often served well in some specific capacity. His adventuring companions on Trinity observed that Tarian seemed to be more of a "jack-of-all-trades" than a master of any particular skill set.
