People: Tetra
- "The Wanderers are a scourge upon the world. They must be stopped."
Tetra (CR ??? – 466 Var 5 / AO ??? – 0 Emb 23) was a unique type of psionicist, and one of the few psionicists capable of psionic abilities beyond the traditional scales of power.
Tetra was a PC in Crew of the Phoenix.
Tetra was defeated in CR 466 by the Faithful Faithless, who defeated him after his transformation into the Omega Dragon.
History
Tetra's original history has been overwritten through excessive temporal manipulation of his own accord. In addition, what memories he had of that original version of time have been consumed by the entity known as Lavos, and thus is no longer accessible even to those with access to the Blue. So far as anyone - himself included - knows, Tetra's life begins with him as a full adult, on the planet Ganymede, as the Tyranids began their assault on that planet, in CR 397.
Using his psionic powers to attempt to assist a group of adventurers with a small horde of the creatures, Tetra accidentally came in contact with the mind of the Tyranid Hive Queen, forever altering his perceptions of the world around him. Shortly after, Tetra and the rest of the adventurers with him joined X the Wanderer, becoming part of the Crew of the Phoenix in the process, and would go on to assist them in destroying various evils, such as Kotrit Wayveri and Anabstercorian.
One of Tetra's unique abilities - which is believed to have not been unique in the original version of the timeline - was the ability to modify key decision points in his life, allowing him to undo events that transpired. This ability was able to function even as he was on death's door, allowing him to manipulate time just enough to allow him to escape unscathed. Each time he used this ability, however, he weakened the temporal fabric of the world, eventually causing it to snap: in essence, all of the temporal disruptions that occurred in the mid CR 400's is directly attributable to Tetra's actions.
It is believed that, sometime in the 430's, Tetra was contacted telepathically by the Omega, for purposes unknown. It is known, however, that Tetra was believed to be jealous of X's power as a Wanderer, and harbored no small amount of ill will towards his prior adventuring companions. Tetra responded to the summons, though the outcome of that event are unknown. What is known is that, when Tetra reemerged from the Tower he had entered, he immediately set to work manipulating the timeline to his own ends, including masquerading as the Chancellor of the Ronkan Empire, though what purpose these actions served was not - and is still not - immediately apparent. Through his incredible intellect and mastery of Psionic powers, Tetra was able to manipulate entire nations to do his bidding, and took direct mental control of dozens, if not hundreds of individuals, throughout the time and space of Trinity.
Tetra's actions are the proximal cause of the coming about of the Wrath of the Omega event. While the Omega had orchestrated all of the events that preceded it for millenia, Tetra became instrumental in his plans, becoming the catalyst that brought the plans to fruition. For his service and for his defeat of William the artilect epochent, the Omega transformed Tetra into what has been termed an "Omega Dragon."
Qualities
It is known that Tetra is an Epic psionicist, of a breed that no longer exists (or has existed, so far as this version of the timeline is concerned). As such, his psionic abilities are unpredictable and unknowable save through direct experience.
Tetra's ability to manipulate his own existence gives him unparalleled agility in terms of abilities, able to modify his skill set to meet the needs of his current challenges nearly on a whim. It is unknown if this power has any limits, and if so, what those limits are.
After his transformation into the Omega Dragon, it is presumed that Tetra's powers have only increased, and he is therefore now quite possibly the most dangerous entity that yet resides on the worlds of Trinity. Whether or not his abilities rival those of a Wanderer yet remains to be seen.
