Perception
Perception (Per) is used in Trinity because of the existence of firearms. If firearms were based upon Dexterity, they would rapidly become unbalanced. To counter that, the Perception ability score was created.
Perception is Used for...
Obligatory
- Attack rolls with firearms. Attack rolls made with other ranged weapons, such as with crossbows and thrown weapons, are still made with Dexterity.
- Low-light vision. Add the character's Perception modifier to its multiplier for how far she sees in low-light conditions. This includes low-light vision granted by spells or similar Force effects, whether temporary or not.
- Darkvision. Multiply the character's Perception modifier by 10 and add the result to the character's darkvision distance. This includes darkvision granted by spells or similar Force effects, whether temporary or not.
- Listen, Search, and Spot. These three skills are based on Perception, rather than Intelligence or Wisdom.
Perception 0
A creature with a 0 Perception score cannot perceive the world in any fashion. Such a creature falls helpless due to an inability to perceive the world around it. The creature can take purely mental actions that affect only itself; however, any other actions are impossible.
