The term jagd is taken from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and has a vaguely-similar meaning here.

Overview

A jagd is, to many, a wound in the world: a place where the Forces do not - and seemingly cannot - function. That such locations tend to be geographically foreboding, as well, is mere happenstance - the true horror of a jagd is that the lynchpins of existence, the foundation on which the worlds of Trinity rest, are vacant.

The potential implications of the existence of these locations are varied. It was only since the Omega Event that these locations began appearing: the first among them, and best well-known, is Jagd Odnis, the name of the small island that was created when the Omega called his towers to him in a central location. After Thron Chanadar and his companions, the Faithful Faithless, entered the rift the Omega created to what can only be called "elsewhere," the surroundings of that place began a horrifying and rapid transformation into geodesic crystalline structures, and Force effects in the vicinity began failing: as part of the fallout of this, the rift to "elsewhere" also closed, which may have been what prevented Thron and his companions from returning to the worlds of Trinity.

Since then, however, a small number of jagds have cropped up throughout the world. The cause of their formation is unknown: unlike myrrh trees, which have known requirements for appearing, jagds seem - at this point in time - random. This lack of understanding of the formation of jagds, along with the transformation of the world's geography prior to the start of the Time of Echoes, means that there may very well be more of these wounds in existence than is otherwise known: they are, essentially, invisible, until an individual with a Force alignment attempts to invoke the powers of their Force, and finds... nothing.

The relationship between the nature of a jagd and the strange crystalline structures that appear within them is unknown, but they serve as a useful physical indicator that there is something wrong with the world in these locations. Elementals and similar creatures with intrinsic ties to the Forces have reported a deep unquiet and sense of unease when approaching these locations, and as there are currently no records of such entities entering a jagd, it is unknown what would happen to them within the confines of them.

The dissolution of Force-aligned energies within a jagd precludes the existence of myrrh trees within their bounds. Likewise, no information from an area transformed into a jagd can be retrieved from the world memory: this distortion and dismantling of Force effects applies even to memory and the nature of time, extending its reach both into the distant past and far future of the physical area taken over by the jagd.

Notable Jagds

The following is a list of known and notable jagds; note that not all may have their own page.

Jagd Location Description
Jagd Odnis Small island off the western coast of Valendia The first jagd in Trinity, this is the site of the Omega's rift into "elsewhere," into which Thron and the Faithful Faithless traveled. It is said that the remains of the Omega's so-called Chosen Nine still rest here, untouched by decay.
