Mechanics are an intrinsic part of a game; they are what let us overcome subjectivity and attain objectivity in our gaming. However, a game that is purely mechanical is not entertainment, but an exercise in math. Therefore, we add meaning to the mechanics; this is the "roleplaying" aspect of RPGs.
In Trinity, there are a tremendous number of classes. This is so that a player can create precisely the character they want. The archetypes that are covered in Trinity are numerous, from the mundane to the exotic. The purpose of all these additional mechanics is to support the flavor of Trinity - the roleplaying aspect should always be supported by the mechanics, or else the roleplaying aspect becomes purely "fluff," as it is called.
In some settings, a pirate could be a rogue - the distinction is mechanically meaningless, and therefore it loses some of its meaning in roleplaying. However, in Trinity, pirates are not rogues - they are corsairs. The vast array of classes gives meaning to the subtle shades of meaning we use in defining ourselves and our characters.
It is also possible, of course, that within this vast array of classes, there lies a broken combination of class features. It is also possible that players can be overwhelmed by the choice of class: with so many, it may be difficult to choose. However, once one understands the basic idea of each class, and how they differ from one another, the choice becomes easier. The classes are not different in a superficial sense: a knight is different, mechanically, than a fighter, than a paladin, than a defender. While they may feel similar, there are subtle shades of meaning in the mechanics - just like there are subtle shades of meaning in the words used to describe the classes.
Up for Review
- The following classes are currently up for review in Trinity. A class that is up for review is either an existing class whose purpose is going to be reviewed, and possibly modified or removed in favor of a new class that is more fitting to the setting, or a class that is not written yet (either partially or not at all) that is next in line for creation.
Ranger (up for review)
Removed Classes
- Some classes have been specifically removed from the standard d20 system in regards to Trinity. The following list is a list of classes that are not used in Trinity.

[hide]Classes
The classes here will eventually have short descriptions, as well as being categorized to make it easier for a beginning player to understand the class's role in a party.
Class Categories
- Tank: The role of a tank is a front-line melee combatant, someone who draws the attention of the enemy so that their more "squishy" allies can survive. A fighter is an example of a tank class.
- Caster: This term is a very general one in Trinity. Generally, a caster is someone who uses some sort of array of special abilities that are not exactly natural. A wizard is an example of a caster class.
- Skills: The role of a skills class is that of using skills, as the name implies. A class in this category is heavy in skill-use, though usually has other abilities. An akashic is an example of a skills class.
- Hybrid: The class fulfills the role of two of the above, though usually not as well as a specialized character. The two (or even three) categories it combines are listed. A psychic warrior is an example of a hybrid class.
- Other: Some classes defy the above four categories; they are either special cases or focus on some sort of specific ability. A mimic is an example of such a class.
Class Sub-Categories
- (Force): The class focuses on a specific Force, or uses the listed Force in some way. An example would be the learner class.
- Ranged: The class favors ranged combat. An example would be the archer class.
- Bow: The class specifically favors bows and similar Dex-based ranged weapons.
- Gun: The class specifically favors guns and similar Per-based ranged weapons.
- Melee: The class favors melee combat. An example would be the knight class.
- Heavy: The class specifically favors two-handed weapons and similar Str-based melee weapons.
- Light: The class specifically favors light weapons and similar Dex-based melee weapons.
- Sneak: The class is one that sneaks about well. An example would be the ninja class.
Class Listing
The classes are listed below, along with their Trinity-accepted abbreviation and a short description.
- Adventurer (Adv)
- Rather than being a unique class of their own, adventurers blend up to three other classes together, either to synergize their powers or to create unique or unusual combinations.
- Akashic (Aka)
- Wielders of the power of the Blue, akashics are memeticists, capable of utilizing the Blue to the fullest extent. This grants them unparalleled access to information, able to manipulate it in all of its forms, as well as memories of others and the world itself.
- Anarch (Ana)
- Anarchists tapped directly into the force of Chaos itself, anarchs are capable of manipulating luck and causality to their own ends, warping the expectations of others and using events around them to produce strange and fascinating results.
- Antipaladin (Ant)
- Up for review.
- Archer (Arc)
- Wielding bows, slings, or thrown weapons, archers are the undisputed masters of ranged combat without delving into Force-related powers. Their mastery of bowcraft is through skill and skill alone, and in this, they are unmatched.
- Artificer (Art)
- Masters of the magics of crafting, artificers channel their spells into items of power.
- Assassin (Asn)
- Striking suddenly from the shadows, assassins can slay a foe and leave no trace.
- Barbarian (Brb)
- Savage warriors, barbarians fight not with skill and craft, but with rage and tenacity, channeling the powers of Chaos to brutal and destructive ends.
- Bard (Brd)
- There is magic in music, or so some claim, and the bard proves this true. At their core, magic and music are interwoven, and the bard uncovers mysteries of both the magical and musical varieties, providing support to her allies.
- Caller (Cal)
- Binding her soul to the ancient Primals, the caller learns to channel their essences into the real world, allowing them to take physical form.
- Defender (Def)
- Through armor and shield, defenders are living tanks, capable of taking blows that would bring low any mortal. Able to protect not only themselves, but prevent their allies from coming to harm, defenders play a dangerous but necessary role in an adventuring party.
- Discordant (Dis)
- Rather than rely on aiming or tactical skill, discordants rely on blunt chance via Chaos to enable them to participate in combat, using ranged weapons to wildly inaccurate but incredibly dangerous effect - not just to their enemies, but also to their friends.
- Druid (Drd)
- Up for review.
- Epochent (Epo)
- Masters of the powers of Time, epochents have learned to see time not just as an abstract entity, but a resource to be utilized. Epochents can warp time and space, at first manipulating these elements, but eventually able to modify the very fabric of the universe itself.
- Einhander (Ein)
- With blade in hand, the einhander is the pinnacle of physical skill when it comes to hand-held weaponry. No other individual can ever hope to match the einhander's ability to wield a weapon.
- Gambler (Gmb)

- Greasemonkey (Grm)
- Pilots and engineers, greasemonkeys are able to build vehicles and the devices that plug into them.
- Gunslinger (Gun)
- Armed with the weapon that symbolizes Technology, gunslingers are able to make quick work of foes from afar with some of the most dangerous weapons built.

- Incarnate (Inc)
- Up for review.
- Inventor (Inv)
- Undisputed masters of Technology, inventors are tinkers and engineers who design new devices that stretch the bounds of what is thought possible with machinery.
- Jedi (Jed)

- Karateka (Kar)
- Using naught but hands and feet, the karateka is a dangerous opponent, capable of shattering steel with his bare hands.
- Knight (Kni)
- Combining the need for defense with a strong swordarm, the knight specializes in challenging foes in combat and destroying them.
- Lancer (Lnc)
- Armed with a polearm, the lancer learns a unique form of aerial combat, leaping onto his foes and piercing them with all the might gravity has to muster.
- Learner (Lrn)
- A memeticist who specializes in learning the abilities of others, the learner gleans knowledge from observing monsters use their abilities, then turns the tables back upon them.
- Mage (Mag)
- While others may use magic, mages specialize in doing so, learning to tap into the leylines of the world and pull forth raw arcane energy that they can direct in myriad ways.
- Mediator (Mtr)
- Up for review.
- Medic (Med)
- A student specialized in healing, the medic can bring her friends back from the brink of death on the field, while producing concoctions with a variety of effects at home.
